The URGH - (The reason why we are doing this).
We know from personal experience how daunting and life changing life is when diagnosed with a medical condition, food allergy or intolerance and being forced to learn to follow a special diet. Mind whirling into overdrive; in headless chicken mode 'Researching' your life away trying to make sense of it all. Yearning to create a 'freefrom' version of life something close to how it was before. It can take over your head and life very easily. Likewise with a lifestyle choice or cultural beliefs that are not widely catered for.
Where to start? There's so much information out there but precious little food on supermarket and local shop shelves to inspire you! Eating out is now a chore and a worry rather than a treat.
It just gets ever more frustrating with multiple dietary requirements or preferences.
A wealth of choice is out there, but finding it is so very difficult. Few food producers, manufacturers, restaurants, cafes, eateries and hotels etc highlight the fact if their products or menus are suitable for particular restricted diets. Many are small businesses with limited advertising budgets. Many find the cost of transportation prohibitive. Many sites (including our own) cannot feasibly list all the suitable companies and food products - a gigantuan, labour intensive and expensive task! Some special dietary food products are 'trialled' on supermarket and health shop shelves for a nano second (often without any advertising / promotion!) then withdrawn almost straight away "because nobody buys them"!
It is a long haul to go it alone. The various special and medical diet support groups and forums on this site are designed to help sufferers meet, share tips and support each other, but each day you still have to eat - & shopping is the BIG challenge.

However, it's not all doom and gloom, it's actually a new start to a healthier life, and we can help make it enjoyable!
