It's not just food that you have to watch if you are on a special diet -it's very easy for ingredients in drinks to catch you out!

As ever..zzz.. take time to read the labels. Look out for especially for sugar, wheat, gluten, dairy, lactose and sodium content and also the levels if you are on a low salt or low sugar medical or weight loss diet.  That said there are still gallons of safe choices to relax with and enjoy.

Dairy free shakes & smoothies although available are not yet mainstream but we are trying to get the point accross!  Keep an open mind with soya alternatives too as many who are sensitive to dairy also find soya hard to tolerate so rice oat or almond milk versions may be a good backup.

Citrus, grape and sulphite intolerances are easy to miss with symptoms often attributed to something else but they are not uncommon so listen to your body if it reacts to fruit juices or (moderate!) intake of wine or brandy. Suphite free and organic wine  make for a good time (and it is said a clearer head!) so wotth a shot!

The grains used to brew beer and lager can cause problems for coeliacs and people with wheat or gluten intolerance / allergy but the good news is there are gluten and wheat free options that taste just as good!

The jury is out regarding grains used in whisky and vodka and other spirits and liqueurs as studies have shown that the gluten is rendered out during the distilling process, yet there are still people who feel they get an adverse reaction if they drink them...  To play safe you could try potato vodka and also apple gin based liquers.

Cheers!!
